One of Bornholm's first gourmet restaurants is run today by the second generation with a focus on sustainability and local ingredients. Gabriela and Kim Jantzen have run Restaurant Le Port since 2012, when they took over the gourmet restaurant from the latter's mother, Jette Jantzen. She started the restaurant in 1976, and at the time the gourmet restaurant was one of the only ones of its caliber on Bornholm.
Kim Jantzen has worked for his mother for many years, and when he met Gabriela, it was obvious that the next generation would take over the restaurant with the famous view.
Wide experience from the restaurant industry
Kim Jantzen is a trained chef from Birkerød kro and Restaurant Nouvel on Gammel Strand, while Gabriela is a trained waiter with Erwin Lauterbach, the renowned chef, restaurateur and cookbook author, and then at Egoisten with Willy Andersen in Hovedvagtsgade by Kongens Nytorv.
Previously, Restaurant Le Port focused on classic French cuisine and a la carte servings, but since Kim and Gabriela Jantzen took over the place, sustainability, Nordic flavor nuances and ingredients from the backyard and the rest of Bornholm have been increasingly featured in the menus, the place in day offers the guests.
French cuisine with a sustainable conscience
At Le Port on Bornholm, we have a sustainable approach at all levels of our restaurant. Right from our procurement of raw materials for our French-inspired cuisine, to our serving of home-filtered water free of plastic packaging on the terrace with the breathtaking sea view.
